The Rev. Troy I. Thomas
The Senior Pastor of
Historic Saint Paul AME Church
Reverend Troy I. Thomas currently serves as Pastor and his wife, Reverend Maxine Thomas serves as the Assistant Pastor, of the St. Paul AME Church in Lexington, Kentucky. Reverend Thomas accepted his call into ministry at Bethel AME Church - Baltimore, MD under the Pastoral leadership of Bishop John R. Bryant (then Reverend) in 1988. He was ordained an Itinerant Elder in 1994 and was assigned to his first Pastoral charge at the same Annual Conference. His ministry has made room for him as he has served as pastor of churches in Lakewood, New Jersey; Whitesboro, New Jersey; Long Island, New York; Dover, DE, and Philadelphia, PA before his appointment as Pastor of St. Paul AME Church Lexington, Kentucky in December 2007.
Reverend Thomas is a native of Baltimore Maryland. Raised in Columbia, Maryland, Reverend Thomas completed the Howard County Public School System and furthered his education by accepting a Math Scholarship to UMBC for his BA Degree in Finance; later he went to New Brunswick Theological Seminary in New Brunswick, New Jersey for his Masters of Divinity Degree.
Reverend Thomas has an extensive background in Finance and Leadership Training. His employment background has allowed him to utilize his gifts and talents at various levels in the government and the private sector in the accounting field. In addition, Reverend Thomas participates in the community by serving on several community boards and holds memberships in civic organizations as well. An active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Reverend Thomas shares the precepts of community activism as he served as President of the Lakeview Branch of the NAACP of Long Island New York. His commitment to community service has lead to being the recipient of various community awards and citations.
In ministry, Reverend Thomas, along with his wife, Reverend Maxine shares a Team Ministry to meet the needs of the congregation and the community at large. Together they have shared in Marriage retreats and conferences. Reverend Thomas conducts workshops and seminars on Finance and Tithing, Leadership, Men’s Ministry, and AME Church Administration.
Reverend Thomas has been married for 19 years to his lovely wife, Reverend Maxine and together they have three beautiful daughters, Tricia -15, Traci-14 and Trina-12.
